Happy Canada Day!

July 1st, 2009 . by LadyNova

and once again the day dawn’s dreary, cool, damp, wet…raining raining raining. UGHHHH!  We are growing mossy and moldy here! lol

My day started at the very dark and very early hour of 4:15am when not 1, 2 or 3 but 6 very loud fire trucks went zooming by the house.  I got up about 10 mins after that and pretty much stayed up…leaving around 5am for a quick coffee and drive to see if I could find out where the emergency vehicles went - found them up in Cobb’s Ridge, and found out a bit later that there was a garage fire up there. I think the trucks started returning back to the station around 6am.  Not quite the way to start your day, eh?

I layed back down around 7am, until my alarm went off at 8:30 - had to be up and out of the house for a breakfast date with Tracy R.  We sat and talked for 2 hours and a couple cups of coffee lol! was a nice morning tho :)  Now I’m sitting here wasting a bit of time…but soon headed back to bed for a very much needed short nap.

Not much else going on today…there’s a small celebration happening in town today, and hopefully the skies will clear enough for the fireworks tonight.  It’s Privateer Days this coming weekend, so there’s that money trap to look forward to as well lol

Back to normal…

June 28th, 2009 . by LadyNova

what ever that is I guess.  Company left this morning, I think around 10:30am. Got to see Jake for a few minutes - he came down as well but spent the weekend with his Dad. Was great to see him and have Jonathan here for the weekend…I haven’t seen either of them in well over a year…might even be close to 2 years! The girls at least got to spend some time with them last October when they were both up in Cape Breton at Thanksgiving.  They used to get to spend a few weeks every summer up there with their cousins and various Aunts/Uncles etc but they didn’t go last summer, and I guess they wont be going this year either (at least nothing was mentioned about it) - I guess it’s a case of “all good things must come to an end” but it does suck for the girls really - they’ve been having their little vacations away ever since Alyssa was 1 years old!  That’s a long time!

It was nice to see the sun last week for a day or two…we are back to rain again…and apparently it’s here to stay for awhile - ugh. Oh well…the weather matches my mood so it’s all good really.  Yea - the “woe is me” is still hanging on, and I’m sure the damn weather isn’t helping much  Ehhhh  I’m  :ok:

Hmmm…what else? Nothing really.  Still house hunting - I think I’ll always be house hunting - I guess my next step is deciding if I honestly plan on staying here in Liverpool.  The magic money fairy never did leave me the $$ needed to get the land/mini home so that deal is now officially off the table dammit (and I’m surprised my mortgage dude and real estate agent dude aren’t ready to kill me after all the work I put them through *sigh*) Not to mention the $$ I was out of pocket just getting the deal started…arrrrgh. Not going to dwell on it, not going to dwell on it, not going to dwell on it.  No really - I’m not dwelling on it. Much. ha. :tim:

Wet dreary day…

June 27th, 2009 . by LadyNova

what else is new?  it always seems to be wet and dreary!  We did have a couple nice days - Thursday and Friday - but man, it was so hot and so damn humid - UGH!  I guess I’ll take the rain! ha!

Earl, Kathleen and nephew Jonathan arrived yesterday for the weekend, bringing with them Megan’s birthday presents and yet another birthday cake (makes cake #3 for her lol) and the girls are having a blast playing with their cousin! He’s grown so much since the last time I’ve seen him!

and in other very exciting news - today was report card day for both girls and I’ve very happy and proud to announce I now have an 11th grader and a 5th grader! They both passed and Alyssa and I were very surprised to see that not only did she pass her exams she also passed all her courses - now History was passed with a mere 52% - but you know what?? She made a 62% on her exam and was failing the damn course only 2 weeks ago - so I’ll gladly take the 52%!  So there…another school year officially done and over with! :stars: :congrats:

Just waiting on Papa to pick up the yummy pizza they are treating us with for supper, then it’s an evening of tidying up, putting away laundry and a hot bath in there somewhere - Kathleen is unfortunately not feeling very well, so I think it’s going to be an early night for her - probably for all of us :)

10 Years ago today…

June 23rd, 2009 . by LadyNova

my last little baby was born *sigh*  Yes, there’s a birthday girl in the house today! Miss Megs officially turned double digits at 11:35am this morning…celebrating it by having to go to school for the last time this year LOL  Asked her this morning “wasn’t it nice of Mommy to make your birthday the last day of school??”  she didn’t find it funny LOL  But she did wake up to her own bouquet of flowers and a card from me, and there’s a brand new Webkinz waiting for her from her sister for when she gets home   :)

As soon as she gets home we’re leaving for Bridgewater - taking the birthday girl shopping, and out for supper (she’s picked Boston Pizza!) then it’s home for cake with Kev and Tracy and anyone else who wants to show up :)

Report card day is Saturday then the school year is officially over until September - where I’ll have an 11th grader and a 5th grader. Oy I’m getting so old! lol   Have a great day!

Happy Summer Solstice Day! :)

June 21st, 2009 . by LadyNova

Yes, it’s the Summer Solstice today - the longest day of the year/shortest night.  Marks the first day of summer as well.  Yea - summer…too bad the weather isn’t cooperating today at all! lol  Foggy, raining, damp, cold…blah!  My plan for today was to be outside as much as possible…I don’t do any special *rituals* for today, but I know many of my Wiccan friends do - again, if the weather was nicer I had plans of maybe doing one or two things…but if I’m lucky maybe I can get a quick walk in at Pine Grove, or maybe out at the beach.  One of the more popular things to do is to have bonfires at night as they were lit to protect against evil spirits which were believed to roam freely when the sun was turning southwards again.  Again - if it wasn’t freaking raining the girls and I may have done that tonight…oh well, I guess we can switch on the artificial fireplace and just pretend?? LOL  Oh well!  Happy Summer Solstice and Blessed Be! :)

Megan’s birthday party was a great success yesterday…but man, 7 ten/eleven year old girls are LOUD. Very very loud!  The weather sucked yesterday too, so we were all trapped in the house *sigh*  Oh well, we played music, they played the Wii, we had supper, then cake, the presents - she did very very well!  Then she went home with her friend Cheyenne for a sleepover :)  Social butterfly she is!  She’s still not home! lol

Last night I was out to friend Anthony’s birthday party…was having an awesome time until my gall bladder decided it was time to attack me *sigh*  I came home and suffered it out for almost 2 hours before it finally eased up.  I guess I need to finally go see about having it out. Ugh.  Feel fine today, other then being really tired…it was after 3:30am before I finally fell asleep…but thankfully I got to sleep in until almost 11:30 this morning - nice!  Now I’m about to get a lovely roast in the oven, finish up some laundry, clean up the rest of the mess from the party…and maybe nap!  Have a great day :)

It’s party day!

June 20th, 2009 . by LadyNova

Party planning is in full swing here today…Megan’s having her 10th birthday party today…admist what is going to be a nice long, rainy day. yay.  7 ten year old girls all tapped inside the house. Yay. LOL  I have wine. Lots of wine. I shall survive it, right? ROFL  Megs has been busy already today cleaning up the house (man I have her trained well, don’t I?? lol) Alyssa is already hiding out in her room and the guests aren’t due to arrive for another 4 hours! ha!  But we’re just about ready - treat bags are done, cake is ready, hot dogs waiting to be cooked…chips, pop, juice, ice cream, popcorn too!  I might run over to the store shortly and maybe see what’s available for a movie seeing as how they wont be able to get outside to play at all.  Then after the party Megs has already been invited to a sleepover so she’s pretty stoked about that as well :)  Her actual birthday isn’t until Tuesday (which is also the last full day of school for her!) and when she gets home we’ll head to Bridgewater for an afternoon of shopping, eat out somewhere then home for yet another cake with the family :)  My baby will be turning double digits. Oy! Where the heck as the time gone???

Alyssa wrote her last exam on Friday - History - which was the one we were dreading the most…but thankfully her teacher Mrs Collings had already arranged for her and a couple other students who were also having troubles in her class to sit the exam with a *helper*.  They of course weren’t given answers to any of the questions, but the helper was there to help explain any questions they may have had with any of the questions. Alyssa said this helped her a lot so WHEW!  We’ll know the outcome next Saturday.  Yes I said Saturday - UGH!  That’s report card day this year. Saturday! Good lord LOL  But I’ve been hearing rumors that the kids can pick them up Friday instead so I may just see if we can do that instead.

Well, I guess I really should go finish up the cleaning….dishes, bathrooms, vacuum, laundry…it never freaking ends here I swear :)

And the weekend is here again…

June 13th, 2009 . by LadyNova

man the week seems to fly by fast doesn’t it? We’re in the home stretch now for the end of school - only 1 more full week for Megan left, and Alyssa starts exams this week - oy.  Please help me find the strength to get through this with her lol We’ve been having some difficulites the last month or so, she’s struggling a bit, but with the help of her teachers, guidance councellor and myself we’ll pull her through it. But I’m thinking perhaps a visit with her pediatrician, whom we’ve not had to see since she was in Gr 6, and a review of her ADD issues might not be such a bad thing for when she returns to school in September.  Something to think about :)  But she and I are spending this weekend working on some history projects she has graciously been given extended time to finish up thanks to her awesome history teacher and hopefully it all works out ok :)

Not much going on really - been a rough couple days for me unfortunately - just when I think things are going to go *right* for me, I get slapped back to the reality that is my life and let me tell you, it sucks.  It more then sucks really, and I’m almost at the point of just completely giving up.  *sigh* I never do though, I just feel like I could.  But the short version of a long story is - there wont be a lovely peice of land, and a beautiful new mini home any time soon…not unless I somehow, through some sort of divine interevention, or miracle - win the lottery. I don’t need millions mind you…hell I don’t need hundreds of thousands.  No, having about ohhhhh $30-$35,000 would be nice.  Hell, even $20,000 would probably do it, and the girls could live without the swimming pool lol But it’s disheartening to say the least.  Especially since the land I found was going to be perfect. It WAS perfect and it met all my requirements….in my #1 area, it was huge so that I was never going to have to worry about neighbors bothering me ever!  I had that damn mini home decorated and ready in my head….could picture the landscaping, could envision it all completely in my head.  Makes my head hurt now to think about it…and the kids are sad too - they were really looking forward to the whole thing :(   And please…please - don’t tell me to be patient - I have enough ppl telling me that. I don’t want to be patient. I’m tired of being patient…really I am.  Just once, once, I’d like something to work out in my favor you know????

Uuuugggghhhh - this sort of turned out to be a “woe is me” blog post.  Thankfully I don’t do that very often. So I guess if the money fairy isn’t able to drop a wad of cash off in my bank account, I’m back to searching for a house.  Which I’ve been doing for almost 6 months now with no luck and can’t see that luck changing anytime soon.   Ooops, sorry, there’s more of that “woe is me” shit.

Soooo, uhhhh, what else?  Megan is in nonstop birthday party planning mode now, has been for a couple weeks now…apparently we’re having a birthday party here next weekend…with a theme for god sakes LOL  She’s been telling everyone that they have to wear pajamas….”funky” ones at that.  I hope these girls don’t think it’s like an overnight pj party…cuz….uhhhh…its not!!! ROFL!  No…hotdogs, cakes, ice cream, pop, chips, maybe a movie, maybe I’ll do make overs or something….there will be wine… lots of it….for ME LOL

So it was election day today for Nova Scotia…

June 9th, 2009 . by LadyNova

and I worked the polls today for a lovely 5 hour stretch (first time in a long time I’ve worked an election!)  I was working on behalf of our PC candidate, Mr Kerry Morash who we were hoping was going to make a comeback after a 3 year *break* - unfortunately, the people of Queen’s County, heck the majority of Nova Scotia really according to the poll results decided otherwise…electing NDP again for Queen’s (UGH) and for the first time in a very long time NDP took Nova Scotia overall - a surprising result for many I think.  Now I’m somewhat torn about it all to be honest!  I very much wanted Kerry Morash to get back in with the PC’s for Queen’s County…BUT…and here’s a huge but…I really did NOT want the PC leader Rodney MacDonald back again leading the Province. No, I think we need to sit back and give Darrell Dexter and the NDP party a chance…heck he *IS* from Queen’s County!  I’m not really liking that the Queen’s NDP Mrs Conrad is back tho….sorry!  LOL ahhhh politics eh??? :)

Oh well - I spent 5 hours at the polling station today, finally able to leave when the polls closed at 7pm…thank goodness, because Alyssa had an O2 class thing at the school that started at 6:30pm! I  missed most of the presentations darn it, but she was happy I made it to the last part, and the reception at the end :)

and I must say, if my candidate didn’t win the election today, at least my hockey team did! Go Penguins!!!  They pulled a nice win out of their butts tonight, stretching this into a 7 game series…now they just have to beat Detroit Friday night (guess I’ll be late heading out anywhere that night lol) *fingers crossed*

and just because I always seem to end up talking about my real estate adventures…I think I can pretty  much say that unless the PERFECT house were to pop up for sale soon - perfect as in - location, size, not needing any work etc - then I *AM* going with the mini home/land thing.  In fact I was talking earlier with my real estate agent asking about what’s available for land in my price range, asking him about certain ones I’ve seen online for sale etc…and I’ve got his thinking cap on now! rofl! I’m sure he’ll come up with something soon I hope….I really want to be settled somewhere before Winter…and it takes 12 weeks approx. for the minihome to be built and delivered….so I’m looking at the end of September or October at this rate - sucks because I’ve promised the girls a pool once we move and get settled…it will be too cold to swim LOL

and in case you’re wondering…..THIS is what the new place is going to look like - nice huh??

night all - it’s midnight and I just remembered I stripped my bed and the sheets are still in the dryer…oops! lol Guess I better go make my bed! And take the dogs out to pee.  And maybe eat something since my stomach is growling non stop.  Hmmm….clean kitchen might be nice too….lol I’m never done!

What a gorgeous Sunday…

June 7th, 2009 . by LadyNova

woke up to a beautiful blue sky, the sun is shining, it’s warm yet with a nice breeze blowing…perfect day to hang laundry out…if I had a working clothes line that is LOL oh well! In the dryer it goes I guess :)  I’m about to get really busy here and get this house cleaned…it’s in desperate need of it again…and Alyssa really needs to get out there and get the lawn done - wont she be happy to hear that when I tell her?? LOL  The rest of my day is panning out to include pretty much nothing but cleaning…dusting, vacuuming, cleaning both bathrooms, lots of laundry…Megan’s cleaned out her closet already, and I really need to do that to mine too.

Not much in the way of other news - still house hunting.  I think I’m swinging back to the idea of land/new home - I know I can swing both of those with my mortgage.  I just need to figure out the well/septic thing…and I think I’ve decided to go see my friendly financial planner dude - see what I’ve got left in the investments…talk about maybe taking out the $$$ I’d need and just do it.  Hell - you can’t take it with you when you die, might as well spend it right?  So what if it means going back to work sooner then I’d planned right? You know, assuming I could even find a job lol  *sigh* I don’t know.  Still lots of thinking to do on that. Thinking, planning, talking myself either into it, or out of it….you know me :)

Thought I better blog something…

May 31st, 2009 . by LadyNova

before my few faithful readers yell at me - usually in the middle of the grocery store (Hi Pat ;) )

Not had much to write about lately - same ol’ same ol’ really.  It gets kinda boring talking about the weather and house hunting all the time! lol  Today was a lovely day tho, a nice change from the cold, damp rain we’ve been having…it’s not nice having to put the furnace on when it’s this close to June, you know?!?  But the sun and warm temps were back in full force today, with a nice cool breeze along for the ride :)

Put in another busy weekend - Friday really didn’t do much of anything - Alyssa had a hair cut, and we brought home a new toy - a flat iron for our hair. This thing is amazing - we are both seriously in love with it! Everyone keeps asking me what I’ve had done to mine - cut? Color? highlights? No no and no! LOL  just beautifully soft, smooth, sleek hair for a change!  And Alyssa’s??? She’s never had straight hair a day in her life, but she does now? Holy crow! It’s going to make growing her hair out long so much easier to deal with!  I’m just afraid we’re both going to need some sort of 12 Step program or something before we both end up bald! ha! lol  I ended up at the bar for a bit Friday night - first time I’ve been there in a month - haven’t missed much, and can see why I’ve been bypassing it lately lol

Saturday Megan was at a birthday party during the afternoon, then she ended up spending the night at her friend Cheyenne’s, Val and I went to a Winds of Change play being put on at the Astor - hilarious!  We had a blast, then today Megs had yet another birthday party to go to, I went and visited with Brad and Karen for a bit and walked out with a new computer - yay me!!! lol No seriously, Brad had an awesome computer sitting up there, in perfect working order and he gave it to me, knowing mine was about ready to bite the dust. I’m so thankful for my awesome friends :)  And he’s going to give my old one the once over and have it ready for us to use for our games - Alyssa is desperately wanting to get the Sims games out and running again (ok ok, I am too lol)

But I tell ya - it’s awesome to be sitting here, cruising along on a computer that actually works, doesn’t freeze up, doesn’t give me errors, and doesn’t take 10 times longer to do something then it should! :)

And other then Alyssa finally being able to mow the lawn, and me getting the house cleaned, that was about it for our weekend :)
