Not sure what got into me, but yesterday I decided that maybe doing some painting would be a good idea…and not anything already on my *to do* list – no, I added a new one – my bedroom lol I walked into Home Hardware, picked an awesome color, got the primer and paint and home I came. That was as far as it went LOL But today I got busy, cleaned my room, moved the furniture out of the way, got the trusty painter’s tape out and approx 4 hours later, 3 coats of paint (1 grey primer, 2 of the lovely color) and it was done! I didn’t do the entire bedroom, just the half wall behind my bed – wanna see??

Its a stormy evening here….snow started around 4:30pm I think and by 8:30-9pm it had already turned to freezing rain – which its still doing now at 10:30pm. It’s messy out there tho – I had to go to the Superstore around 6:30 and the roads were bad! Icky bad. I was glad to get back home and get the car in the garage. Man I love that garage lol But as snow goes it wasn’t bad – only had to do the driveway twice LOL But I think its a safe bet that there wont be any school tomorrow. Of course Alyssa didn’t have any anyway, with it being exam week here. She wrote her last one this morning and I’m a bit apprehensive about it. Why?? Well, it was her science exam, she started writing at 8am, and by 9:20am she was walking in the door. Which means it only took her an hour to do. *sigh* I hope I’m wrong and she did ok lol So there ends her first semester of High School! English, Science and Phys Ed are now over for her, she’ll continue with her O2 course, and she starts Math, History and Art next week.
Megan had a field trip today – all the Grade 4′s headed to New Ross Farms where they had a sleigh ride, did some cooking, and a ton of other things – she had a great time
My cold is pretty much gone – well the dripping stuffy sneezing nose is gone lol the low grade fever, acheyness, feeling like crap, wanting to sleep all the time is still hanging on *sigh* And I’m such a nice mother that I decided to share it with Alyssa – wasn’t that nice of me?? lol Poor kid, she’s all stuffed up *sigh* At least with the next couple days off, she’ll have time to get over it
And now, I guess I really should go tackle some dishes, get the dogs out for the last time for today, maybe have a nice cup of tea (since I am NOT going out for coffee lol) and go to bed. Not much on TV tonight but I do have a couple movies that I borrowed from a friend that I need to watch and get back to him, so I guess I can do that :) Night all!

Just came in with the dogs – no longer freezing rain, now it’s just plain ol’ rain. It’s a MESS! lol
yea, that’s me right now. Blah! I couldn’t escape it any longer *sigh* I’m sick. Runny, stuffy nose. Sneezing. Just enough of a fever to make me feel BLAH. Really really blah. *sigh* I guess I shouldn’t complain TOO much – it’s been a couple years really since I’ve had anything hit me, but still. My nose hurts. I keep slathering Vaseline on it, just in time to sneeze and wipe it all off lol Kleenex with lotion is my best friend right now. It’s pretty much settled nicely into my sinuses – they hurt like hell right now *sigh* The house has been a pit for the last couple days, but I couldn’t stand it any longer and tonight I did a quick tidy up. Still need to vacuum, but I’m thinking that’s going to wait until tomorrow. Or Monday. Whenever lol and all I want to do is sleep.
Megan had a sleepover last night – Val’s daughter Breanna was here and I think they both had a good time – they were both really good, and everyone was nice and quiet this morning which was nice
Exams have started for Alyssa – most are next week, but she had her first one yesterday for her O2 class – not a written one, it was a one on one *interview* with her O2 teacher…and she made a 95%!!!! 
YAY! Miss Smith, her teacher, also gave her a heads up for her other classes – she’s passing those as well, so as long as she doesn’t tank those exams she did fine for her first semester of high school! I’m so relieved! She writes her English exam on Monday and her Science on Wednesday and thats it for her lol There isnt one for Phys Ed so lucky her! Of course I’ve stressed to her more then once that since she only has to study for 2 courses, she better pull off some high marks on those exams! lol
And really, that’s all for now. Going to try and stay awake until 12:30am so I can take more meds and some Tylenol and go to sleep again. Already had a 3 hour nap today.
The inauguration of the 44th President of the United States?? I did! What an awesome day it was! I know it’s silly, being Canadian and all, but I will admit to tears today. I thought the whole thing was just amazing to be honest, and I can’t wait to see what the next 4 years brings.
Wasn’t feeling all that great today tho, and by 3pm I had popped a couple Tylenol and headed to bed to lay down for a bit – yea, that somehow turned into an almost 4 hour nap! oy! (which is why I’m sitting here at almost 1am pretty much wide awake lol). And thank god I have pretty self reliant children – because they fended for themselves for supper! Well, had they looked hard enough there were plenty of leftovers to be eaten, by Miss Megs made herself a grilled cheese sandwhich and Miss Alyssa made herself Mr Noodles lol Oh well! They eat very well 99% of them time, I guess they can slack off once in awhile, right?? Then later on this evening I got called to join a couple friends for a drink or two, helping one friend celebrate his birthday (hmmm, did that make sense? lol) First time I’ve been to Jeff and Anne’s house – omg it’s gorgeous! They completed a total renovation of this house last summer – it’s just beautiful!! And while I was there, Anne brought out a bunch of nibblies for us – and for the first time ever I tried calamari. Well. Hmmmm. Once getting over the fact I was about to eat squid LOL I sucked it up and tried a pc. I will say, the taste was good. The texture? kinda rubbery/chewy. Or maybe it was the fact I knew I was chomping down on squid lol I don’t know. I didn’t DISLIKE it, but I’m certainly not gonna add it to my favorite things to eat list LOL I had 2 pcs of it, so I guess that was an honest try right? And thankfully the beer helped wash it down! 
And now I guess I should really try to get some sleep. Or at least go curl up in bed and maybe read – I’ve got one book on the go and Valerie brought me a book a couple weeks ago that I really should start, and like a crazy person I keep re-reading the last half of Breaking Dawn (the 4th book in the Twilight series) – I just loved all 4 of the books, and hate the fact that I’m done reading them! lol silly I know :) So yea, good night

which honestly is a good thing! lol We got no where NEAR the predicted amount of snow, barely 5-10 cms really, and by 7pm it was raining. It’s going on 10pm now and it’s still raining pretty hard, and the best part is, the temps are now well above 0′C! Like a near perfect +4′C lol Ok perfect would be a sunny beach way the hell down South, but you know what I mean 
And that means that school *should* be a go in the morning as well. Even better! LOL
and of course there’s a storm predicted for tonight – blah! The forecast keeps changing tho, so not sure just what to expect! And it’s still really cold – although right now it HAS warmed up to a nice balmy -4′C lol But if we get the snow/rain they are calling for I’m thinking there wont be school tomorrow.
Company was on the road this morning shortly after 10am and hopefully they will have a good drive home – it was a nice weekend overall, and it was nice to do *Christmas* again lol I got a gift card for Tim Horton’s – yay! lol and also a really cute Christmas ornament, and some nice warm fuzzy socks. Alyssa got socks too, a new wallet and a gift card for Walmart. Megs got really cute poodle slippers, and a new Webkinz – and one she didn’t have yet so that was awesome! AND Kathleen and Papa made supper for us last night – homemade lasagna and home made brownies….OY! Both were sooooo good – and it’s a good thing the diet doesn’t start until tomorrow ROFL!
Today’s plans are pretty easy – get Megan’s room back to rights (Kathleen slept there, Megs was in Alyssa’s room) so have to change the sheets etc and get all her clean laundry put away. Make sure Alyssa gets her laundry done. Clean up Papa’s bed (which is the living room sofa LOL) Megan wouldn’t let him take the sheets/blankets off of it this morning, she wanted to snuggle down and watch TV :) Supper is taken care of already (left over Chili waiting to be reheated later) and my laundry is done. So – a nice easy Sunday as usual. I think now I’m going to go on a hunt for some new themes for the blog – I can spend hours doing that
I believe today is officially the coldest day of Winter so far….the car read -20′C (-4′F) this morning when I took Alyssa to school with a wind chill of approx -35′C (-31′F) uhhhhh – yay??? 
It is so cold I can’t seem to get the house warm *sigh* I hope Earl and Kathleen pack WARM clothes for their weekend here, because if not, they are gonna FREEZE their tales off! lol And there is more snow coming Sunday/Monday – 10-20cms Sunday, and over 20cms on Monday I think – of course the good thing is, there is still plenty of time for that to change and maybe we can get off lucky again and get NOTHING (ok please don’t burst my bubble on that! lol) I’m sick of Winter already and will be glad to see the ass end of it
And now hopefully I can get warm getting the house cleaned and ready for company
no storm hit us at all! I don’t even think it rained overnight! But man, what a dip in the temps – it’s about -10 out there right now – brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! And peeking at the long range weather, it looks like it’s going to be snow free until at least Sunday. YES!
Today was a quiet day – it was 8 years ago, January 14th, that Mom lost her battle with cancer *sigh* I’ve had her candle going all day today, pausing often to remember all the wonderful memories I have of her. The candle was a special gift from Kevin, and I burn it often actually

Going to storm that is? I’m reading conflicting reports online at the moment! The Weather Network is saying just rain now, but my trusty weather blog is still insisting that there’s going to be 7-12cms of wet snow (ummm – isn’t snow usually wet?? LOL) then changing over to rain over night. Well I can tell you that at almost midnight (11:50pm to be exact) I got home about 20 mins ago from a very quick run to Tim Horton’s (cuz in case it doesn’t storm I needed lunch money for the morning and all I had was a $10 – and really any excuse for a coffee works for me LOL) and it’s like a balmy +3′C, no rain, no snow no nothing! Hmmmm – waking up in the morning will be a surprise apparently! LOL
Scored some awesome deals at my local Sobey’s grocery store today – I can’t find my reciept but just adding up the deals in my head I think I saved approximately $75.00 on my grocery bill today. Wanna know how?? Of course you do! lol On many things this week you buy 1 – and get 2 FREE How awesome is that??? I took advantage of: 1 package of pork steaks for approx $16/pkg (like really thick sliced pork steaks – 6 in a package) and got 2 free – saved about $32.00 AND I came home and repackaged them – 3 slices per freezer bag – so for $16.00 I got 6 meals!!! Then there were the lovely hams – each one was again $15-$16 each, but got 2 free – another $32.00 saved. English muffins were the same, so 3 pkgs for $1.89 5lb bags of potatoes again, buy 1, get 2 bags free! I was a happy shopper! 
The girl’s grandfather called last night – he and his friend Kathleen are coming for the weekend – finally going to do Christmas for the kids – told him I tried really hard to keep the Christmas stuff up until they could get down, but I just couldn’t stand looking at it anymore LOL Told him there were lots of pictures, it was the best I could do now! lol
And that my friends is it for tonight…here’s hoping the storm keeps away and that there is indeed school in the morning
